With an $11m Leonora Carrington cat woman sculpture, Eduardo Costantini adds another jewel to his Buenos Aires museum
Briefly

"It's the opportunity that dictates the acquisition. And you can't let it pass you by," says billionaire real-estate developer Eduardo Costantini regarding his purchase of La Grande Dame.
Costantini won the piece after a five-minute bidding war, securing it for $11.3 million. He mentioned, "The piece was estimated between $5 million and $7 million. I joined the auction when it was at $6 million..."
With a background of notable exhibitions, the surrealist sculpture La Grande Dame previously belonged to collector Edward James and had been displayed in famous venues like Tate Modern.
The auction strategy of Costantini highlighted his keen sense of competition, as he observed the bidding slow near his limit. "I noticed that the auction was slowing down... the other bidder was faltering."
