The Sakura Cyclone Table, designed by Tomoaki Kageyama, showcases an innovative blend of chaotic beauty and precision, resembling an architectural origami. With a compact design of 400mm footprint, it captivates with the interplay of light and shadow. Inspired by Jun'ichirÅ Tanizaki's 'In Praise of Shadows', Kageyama crafted the table to cast intricate floral shadows that evoke cherry blossoms, creating a dynamic atmosphere in any space. Prototyped in the renowned Hida region, the tableâs design process involved meticulous adjustments to ensure the perfect angles for shadow effect, earning a Silver prize at the A' Design Award.
Somewhere between architectural origami and a cherry blossom tornado, the Sakura Cyclone Table looks like it's been frozen mid-whirlwind.
Kageyama was chasing shadows, quite literally, inspired by Tanizaki's 'In Praise of Shadows', wanting to design a table that transformed at night.
