The project seeks to explore how architectural design can support commonality and inclusion while reinterpreting the semi-dense perimeter block typology in a former warehouse area in Helsinki.
Social inclusion forms the core of the design, accommodating affordable housing, co-housing, rental apartments, and owner-occupied units, sharing a common courtyard for all residents.
The clever positioning of shared spaces, including a shared lobby, creates a lively living room for residents, enhancing community interaction and social bonds among diverse households.
The façade reflects the typological variation of the apartments, with the upper floors featuring spacious balconies that provide shading for units with the highest solar gain.
