Prada and Axiom Space's collaborative design for NASA's lunar spacesuits combines advanced materials to protect astronauts from extreme temperatures and lunar dust during Artemis III mission.
Michael Suffredini, CEO of Axiom Space, comments on the partnership stating, 'Prada's technical expertise with raw materials, manufacturing techniques, and innovative design concepts significantly enhance the functionality and safety of our lunar spacesuits, making them ideal for the challenges of moon exploration.'
These new Axiom Space spacesuits are enhanced versions of NASA's xEMU design, focusing on flexibility and protection to meet the extreme conditions during spacewalks.
The lunar spacesuits are currently entering a design review phase in 2025 after undergoing critical pressurized simulations and will be tested with the Artemis Lunar Terrain Vehicle prototypes.
