Salte Library Bukchon combines fragrance, written narrative, and architectural space into a single sensory experience. The interior is developed for the Korean fragrance brand Solte Library, linking each scent to literary narratives created with Korean writers. Text and scent are conceived together from the beginning so written language shapes how fragrance is perceived throughout the space. The interior is organized around the concept of “NOTE,” connecting perfume composition layers with the act of writing. Visitors move through five interconnected zones that unfold like chapters in a narrative sequence. A restrained exterior contrasts with an immersive interior, using a large front window to frame the main hall and a central sculptural installation. An installation referencing salt and books expresses diffusion of scent and language, while a tunnel-like corridor guides circulation toward the main hall.
"Located in Bukchon, Salte Library Bukchon by Niiiz Design Lab explores how fragrance, literature, and architecture can be combined into a single spatial experience. Developed for the Korean fragrance brand Solte Library, the project translates scent and written narrative into a environment organized around atmosphere, sequence, and sensory interaction."
"Rather than presenting perfume as an isolated commodity, Solte Library connects each fragrance to literary narratives developed in collaboration with Korean writers. Text and scent are conceived together from the early stages of the brand's creative process, allowing written language to shape the perception of fragrance throughout the space."
"Niiiz Design Lab organized the interior around the concept of 'NOTE,' referencing both the layered structure of perfume composition and the act of writing. This dual meaning informs the spatial sequence of the store, where visitors move through a series of five interconnected zones that gradually unfold like chapters within a narrative."
"From the exterior, the building maintains a restrained architectural expression that contrasts with the immersive interior environment. A large front-facing window frames views into the main hall and reveals the project's central sculptural installation, establishing a visual connection between the interior and the surrounding urban fabric of Bukchon."
