Serie Architects has completed the Raj Sabhagruh at the Shrimad Rajchandra Ashram in Gujarat, featuring a 5,000-seat auditorium, classrooms, and meditation spaces. Drawing inspiration from the Jain Samavasaran temple, the design consists of 13 stacked rooms, rotated for a dynamic structure. Each level promotes a journey: from discourse to learning, ultimately arriving at the meditation hall. The architecture utilizes thin, curved walls to maximize natural light and minimize materials, reinforcing the connection between physical space and spiritual practice, linking the architectural principles to the core values of Jainism.
The Raj Sabhagruh, designed by Serie Architects, embodies a journey from dialogue to introspection, crowned by a meditation hall at its apex.
The design, inspired by Jain architectural principles, features stacked rooms with a 45-degree rotation, creating a dynamic, interlocking structure of curved walls.
