"The comment was then punctuated by , who touched on the difference between corporate decision-making via "design thinking" and "thinking like a designer." Unfortunately, there remains a gap between "design thinking" as designers practice it and how companies implement "design thinking." But regardless, there is still erning among design practitioners to all is to "think". Let's quickly review how we got here."
Design thinking uses a staged problem-solving process: Empathy, Define, Ideate, Prototype, Test. Corporate decision-making often treats design thinking as a checklist rather than a cognitive practice of thinking like a designer. Designers deliver value through dedicated thinking time that produces habits and better judgments. A process for thinking can include inputs such as human senses, Descartes' theory of vision, smartphone AI, and cognitive heuristics like illusory-truth dynamics, with habits as outputs. Closing the implementation gap requires protecting designer time and aligning organizational processes with how designers actually think and create.
