The Ledoux Prêt, designed by Natalie Shook, presents a new approach to shelving with customizable features that blend functionality and design. Its trunk-like central towers support shelves that can be positioned at varying heights, allowing users to express their individuality. The focus on materials, such as perforated cabinetry and cherry wood, enhances both the visual appeal and practical use of the shelves. Unlike the unique site-specific designs of Ledoux Custom, Ledoux Prêt emphasizes clean forms and immediate functionality, celebrating the structural beauty without requiring intricate designs.
Shelving can say so much about us - what we choose to hide, what we choose to show. Personality and utility collide, creating a necessary and usually static solution to an age-old problem.
With Ledoux Prêt, I wanted to celebrate the strength and clarity of the central column on its own. These designs offer a more immediate take: clean compositions that allow the form to stand confidently in space without elaborate intervention.
