Kengo Kuma & Associates Unveils Its First Project in Ecuador with Qapital Tower
"The building's facade draws inspiration from the geology of the Andes, translating these references into a textured architectural expression. This approach references the porous qualities of Andean rock formations, where vegetation grows within natural crevices."
"At the rooftop level, the tower includes an outdoor swimming pool featuring a mosaic designed by Fornasetti, marking the Italian atelier's first project in South America. Additional amenities include a wellness area, fitness center, private cinema, game room, and pet spa."
Kengo Kuma & Associates is developing Qapital, a 32-story mixed-use tower in Quito, Ecuador, in partnership with Uribe Schwarzkopf. The tower will feature residential, commercial, and shared amenities, with a completion date set for 2029. The design is inspired by the Andes' geology, emphasizing natural textures and greenery. The building includes carved balconies, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a rooftop pool with a mosaic by Fornasetti. The project will offer 509 micro-apartment studios and three commercial units, catering to modern urban living needs.
