House Y / Hayato Komatsu Architects
Briefly

The design establishes a gradual progression of privacy, moving from the main room through the lounges to the private quarters, connecting spaces while preserving views.
Rather than simply accepting the expansive land and striking scenery, we envisioned a form reminiscent of a tree, connecting with the environment in multiple directions.
The main volume is positioned at the center, avoiding a simple layout; instead, the branch-like corridors create semi-public spaces that enhance the building's relationship with nature.
This branching configuration allows outdoor areas to be subtly divided, creating layered gardens that capture multiple views, framing sunsets and opening to the ocean.
