"This project is a two-story timber house situated in a quiet suburban neighborhood adjacent to an urban park on the outskirts of Tokyo."
"The project began with a shared vision between the client and the architect: to place a "tunnel of greenery" at the center of the home."
"Benefiting from the lush trees of the park extending to the north, the internal space incorporates a generous opening that frames the landscape and draws views deep into the house, establishing the integration of greenery as the principal architectural theme."
Two-story timber house located in a quiet suburban neighborhood adjacent to an urban park on Tokyo's outskirts. The design centers a 'tunnel of greenery' at the home's core, creating a continuous visual and spatial connection to the park. Site selection prioritized proximity to the park's lush northern trees to maximize framed views and daylight. A generous opening toward the north frames the landscape and channels sightlines deep into the interior, reinforcing the integration of nature as the dominant architectural theme. Collaboration included architect Mitsuhide Hashimoto, structural engineer Hirokazu Osaka, design support by Atsushi Kataoka, and construction management by Tadaharu Ina.
