Henning Larsen, in collaboration with Politecnico di Milano, presents Growing Matter(s) at Milan Design Week, an interactive pavilion utilizing bio-based materials, primarily mycelium. This structure features 80 uniquely shaped mycelium spheres that defy uniformity, emphasizing the natural growth process influenced by environmental factors. The pavilion promotes a new aesthetic approach in architecture, celebrating decay and transformation. Every element aligns with circular design principles, as the biodegradable mycelium spheres are formed from organic substrates and the structure is designed for reuse post-event, reflecting Henning Larsen's dedication to material innovation.
The Growing Matter(s) pavilion's innovative design embraces mycelium as a living material, celebrating its natural growth and unique variations, challenging traditional architectural standards.
Each mycelium sphere in the pavilion highlights circular design principles, being biodegradable and composed of organic materials while showcasing the evolution of bio-based construction.
