"Text description provided by the architects. This project comprises a residence for a retired Finnish woman, situated in a former mining settlement within the Sierra Gorda of Guanajuato. Conceived as a discreet and contemplative refuge, the house occupies an irregularly shaped plot, densely populated with pirul trees, organ cacti, mesquite, prickly pears, and marked by the presence of an 18th-century mining shaft."
The residence serves a retired Finnish woman and sits within a former mining settlement in the Sierra Gorda of Guanajuato. The design prioritizes discretion and contemplation, creating a quiet refuge. The house occupies an irregular plot dense with pirul trees, organ cacti, mesquite, and prickly pears. An 18th-century mining shaft marks the site and contributes historic significance. The design responds to existing vegetation and site constraints to integrate the dwelling with the landscape. The design team included Diana Rico, Alberto Calderon, Gabriel Angelico, and Alexa Resendiz. Construction and technical roles were carried out by Alma Hernandez Covarrubias, Christel Blomqvist, Adalberto Estrada, and Sergio Ayala.
