Coliseum Place Building / David Baker Architects
Briefly

This six-level building provides 59 affordable homes and essential social services, designed specifically for low-income and formerly unhoused families, including those assisted by the Oakland Housing Authority.
The core of the building is a green space that promotes connectivity among residents, featuring an open-air stair that links social zones, active uses, and art.
With a design inspired by nature, the common areas use natural materials and biophilic colors, creating spaces that are both aesthetically pleasing and functional.
The project aims for sustainability, conforming to the Living Building Challenge, with features like a decentralized heat pump system and a PV array that provides full energy support.
