Brooklyn Museum set to open reinstallation of American art, as part of its bicentennial
Briefly

The Brooklyn Museum's "Toward Joy: New Frameworks for American Art" marks a bicentennial celebration with a focus on inclusive history and representation in art.
'Toward Joy' will feature over 400 artworks, including 120 previously unexhibited pieces, showcasing Black feminist approaches and celebrating diverse cultural heritage.
Curated by Stephanie Sparling Williams and a team of seven curators, the exhibit spans eight galleries, each telling a unique story through art across the Americas.
The exhibition opens with 'Trouble the Water,' exploring the relationship between water, freedom, spirituality, and life, inspired by Black American spiritual traditions.
