British Museum receives 1 billion donation of Chinese ceramics
Briefly

The Percival David Foundation of Chinese Art has donated a £1 billion collection of Chinese ceramics to the British Museum, marking a significant contribution to the arts.
The collection includes landmark items like the 'David vases' from 1351, which transformed the understanding of blue and white ceramics, as well as rare 'Chicken cups' used by the Chenghua emperor.
Originally displayed in various locations since 1931, the collection has evolved over time and showcases up to 1,700 objects—and that's not even the full extent of its impact in the field of Chinese art.
Following a funding crisis, the collection was relocated to the British Museum in 2009, after a temporary closure, where it now engages and educates the public on Chinese artistry.
