The shortlist of five architect-led teams for the renovation of the British Museum's Western Range galleries has been revealed, with esteemed architects like David Chipperfield and Lina Ghotmeh included, marking a significant phase in the museum's overhaul of more than a third of its exhibition space.
The ambitious renovation aims to revamp the gallery space significantly, leveraging architectural prowess from shortlisted names such as OMA, Co-founded by renowned architect Rem Koolhaas, who has previously executed successful arts commissions including the Aviva Studios in Manchester.
Lina Ghotmeh, known for designing the 2023 Serpentine Pavilion and her upcoming contemporary art museum in Saudi Arabia, is paired with artist Ali Cherri, bringing a unique perspective to the competition.
