Mexico City’s Art Week saw a surge in attendance at the Salón Acme and Material fairs, featuring a record number of Latin American galleries. Held shortly after Zona Maco's VIP preview, the fairs collectively highlighted the growing presence and importance of Latin American art. Among the exhibitors, artwork by Cuban American artist Amy Bravo stood out, featuring deeply personal mixed-media sculptures that reflect her heritage. The fairs successfully provided a platform for collaboration and representation in the contemporary art scene, with a notable focus on artists from and inspired by Latin America.
This year is the highest percentage to date of galleries participating from Latin America. It's important that Material be a viable platform for galleries from Buenos Aires, Santiago, Lima, etc.
Amy Bravo's work is about her family and her heritage. She uses a lot of symbolism in her work-the bull represents her father, and she is the spider.
