"Our furniture vignettes left open space to enjoy the beautiful city views," says Burns. Since that gleaming tableau is indeed the protagonist, she adds, "we worked with neutral hues to not distract from the backdrop."
Lee took a dark, monotone approach, weaving in green accents throughout. "Another detail that blurs the indoor-outdoor boundary is the wood-plank ceiling, an organic alternative to plain sheetrock," he says.
The layering of periods and styles makes it feel like it's been there for decades. The book-packed lair was conceived as a 'modern, American version of an English country house drawing room.'
