Microsoft has clarified that World of Warcraft will not be available on Xbox Game Pass, following confusion caused by an erroneous email. The email mistakenly included WoW alongside other titles, prompting many to believe it was coming to the service. Microsoft addressed the mix-up on social media, stating it will send a correction. Despite Microsoft acquiring Activision Blizzard in 2023, WoW's business model prevents it from joining the subscription service. Future plans for a console version were hinted but remain unconfirmed.
"This was a mistake on our end, sorry for the confusion," said the official Game Pass Twitter account. "Blizzard's World of Warcraft was accidentally included in a game pass email".
Although Microsoft has acquired Activision Blizzard and added many games to Game Pass, World of Warcraft remains excluded due to its subscription model.
