The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) sent an email to federal workers, requesting them to submit five bullet points on their weekly accomplishments. While the Social Security Administration (SSA) encouraged employees to treat the email as a legitimate task and to highlight their contributions, the Department of Defense (DOD) advised against responding. This request comes in the context of recent workforce cuts aligned with government priorities that have left many workers feeling uncertain about their roles and the future of federal employment under current leadership.

The email comes after federal agencies terminated thousands of their workers over the past week, in line with President Donald Trump and Musk's goal to reduce waste and slash the government workforce.
An SSA employee who received the email told BI that management told workers to respond to the email as advised, and that the agency's management will have a meeting this afternoon to get more information on the next steps.
