Voyager 1 resumes engineering updates
Briefly

The chip's failure made science and engineering data from the probe unusable. The chip contained some of the FDS computer's code, but shifting that code elsewhere wasn't an option.
The solution broke the code into sections, tweaked them, and stored them in different places in the FDS. References to the code's location had to be updated.
The fix was successful on April 20, enabling engineering data flow. The team plans to relocate the rest of the affected software over the next few weeks.
Dr. Garry Hunt praised Voyager 1's progress but noted the need for setup time due to communication delays. He commended JPL engineers for the achievement.
