Manish Jethwa, the new CTO of Ordnance Survey, is leveraging his extensive experience in AI and geospatial data to lead technological innovations at the UK's national mapping service. With a background in robotics, AI, and computer vision from the University of Oxford and MIT, Jethwa aims to integrate these technologies into OS's operations. He has shifted focus from strict technology management to driving organizational change, acknowledging the need to evolve from a product-centric to a delivery-oriented culture within an institution established for over 234 years.
Part of that loop had been reconnected... I'd been in the world of creating city-scale models. And then, before I knew it, I was helping to map the whole nation at the OS.
The explosion in AI means it's in every organisation's business strategy. AI and computer vision are a core part of the research we do here.
Having come from a product-led business to an organisation that was more focused on delivery, we've had to change certain things, and that's been reflective of my journey.
I focused on areas like robotics, AI, and computer vision at Oxford and MIT, and now I'm applying that data experience at OS.
