The data industry is experiencing significant transformation characterized by consolidation, with notable acquisitions such as Databricks buying Neon and Salesforce acquiring Informatica. These acquisitions aim to enhance data quality, a crucial element for successful AI applications. Gaurav Dhillon from SnapLogic emphasized the necessity for enterprises to overhaul their data management systems to support AI initiatives. However, there are uncertainties about whether acquiring established companies sufficiently equips enterprises for current AI demands in a fast-evolving landscape.
There is a complete reset in how data is managed and flows around the enterprise. If people want to seize the AI imperative, they have to redo their data platforms in a very big way. And this is where I believe you're seeing all these data acquisitions, because this is the foundation to have a sound AI strategy.
Nobody was born in AI; that's only three years old. For a larger company, to provide AI innovations to re-imagine the enterprise, the agentic enterprise needs to rethink how they approach data.
