Aikman pointed out the apparent lack of direction for the Cowboys, especially after Mike McCarthy's departure, suggesting that 'it suggests that there's not a real plan.'

Regarding head coach job desirability, Aikman stated, 'most football people that take over as a head coach they want to do it on their terms,' indicating a desire for control in the position.

Aikman indicated that despite the Cowboys' high profile, it is difficult to imagine a coach like Dan Campbell achieving success with them, highlighting concerns about the job's appeal.
