Longtime star LT Smith to retire as a Cowboy
Briefly

Tyron Smith, an eight-time Pro Bowl offensive tackle, is retiring from the NFL, signing a ceremonial deal with the Dallas Cowboys where he spent most of his career. Drafted 9th overall in 2011, Smith's impact was immediate as he became a key player on a successful offensive line. Though brilliant in his early years, injuries impacted his later seasons, culminating in a stint with the New York Jets. His legacy may lead to Hall of Fame consideration alongside fellow retiree Zack Martin.
Smith was a Day 1 starter who quickly established himself as one of the game's best blind-side blockers. At his best, Smith was the prototype left tackle with long arms and athletic ability.
Smith played 12 of his 13 seasons with the Cowboys, ending his career with the New York Jets in 2024. He started all 171 career games he played.
