Activision announced that the iconic Verdansk map is set to return to Call of Duty: Warzone next month, rebuilt using new technology while retaining its original design. Collaborating with Beenox, High Noon Studios, and Raven Software, the developers enhanced visuals and lighting significantly, bringing more detail and clarity to the environment. Key locations like Prison, Airport, and Downtown will feature improved ambiance and visibility. Set to launch on April 3 with Season 3, the renewed map aims to celebrate its five-year legacy by merging nostalgia with modern advancements.
"We wanted to keep this nostalgic feeling, while also upgrading it with new technology," says Simon Duschesne, an environment artist for Beenox.
"It (Verdansk) includes a new high-resolution sky, improved bounces, the reflections improved, light map quality and accuracy, and a better transition between interior and exterior."
"It's the iconic Verdansk map you remember, brought to life with more detail, higher definition, and with the best technology available today to ensure it's better than ever."
