Doug McCauley moved back to the District and sought a more durable living situation after finding his rental unit noisy. He toured 15 properties, ultimately returning to the Sidney condo for its concrete construction. McCauley's new studio will require significant downsizing, but he aims to create a divided space with wardrobes. The Sidney has a variety of unit types and includes features like outdoor space, nine-foot ceilings, and large windows.
The Sidney, a new 48-unit boutique condo in the Union Market/Trinidad neighborhood, features concrete construction which sets it apart. McCauley appreciated the durability it offered over other options he considered.
The building, located along Florida Avenue, offers a variety of unit sizes from one-bedroom to two-bedroom-plus-den duplex units, with several outdoor spaces available.
Despite the downsizing challenge from a four-bedroom house to a 426-square-foot studio, McCauley plans to creatively section off the space using wall-length wardrobes.
All units in The Sidney feature nine-foot ceilings, herringbone-pattern floors, and floor-to-ceiling windows, contributing to a bright and spacious living environment.
