Conferences in South Africa and Kenya showcased the innovative spirit of African developers and community leaders who, inspired by the ethos of early cypherpunks, are building Bitcoin-driven solutions independently. Their approach emphasizes action without waiting for permission from traditional institutions, harnessing the decentralized nature of Bitcoin to address local challenges and innovate for a brighter future in African communities.
African Bitcoiners just build things with Bitcoin. We know that somebody has to step up to enact change, because all of the promises from the NGOs and governments have fallen short.
It's with this attitude that the builders in Africa are building. And while not all of the builders on the continent are writing code, they're all doing as much of their work as possible without asking permission.
