We need to do more to ensure older adultsincluding those living in long-term care facilitiesare up to date on recommended vaccines
Briefly

For the first time, we have vaccines that can protect older adults against three leading and sometimes fatal respiratory viral diseases: influenza, COVID and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). Yet some seniors, including many who live in nursing homes, aren't getting these vaccines.
We must do more to help inoculate older adults living in long-term care facilities, given the ease of spread and severe outcomes of respiratory diseases. Planning for future virus seasons is crucial, leveraging lessons from current vaccine rollouts.
Older adults face higher risks of severe disease and death from respiratory virus infections due to declining immune responses, chronic diseases, and increased chance of spread in long-term care facilities.
