Travellers advised to consider mpox vaccine
Briefly

The ECDC emphasizes that the risk of mpox spreading globally remains low, despite WHO's declaration of a global emergency. However, travelers to affected areas in Africa should consider vaccination.
Experts have noted that mpox could spread more easily due to Clade 1b, an emerging strain, potentially leading to more severe disease and increased risk for populations.
Pamela Rendi-Wagner from the ECDC remarked that because of the outbreak's rapid spread in Africa, the risk for the general population in Europe has increased.
As mpox can spread via close contact, awareness and vaccination are crucial for travelers in regions where the virus is prevalent, to help control outbreaks.
