Gov. Mike DeWine tested positive for COVID-19 and is using Paxlovid while working from home, amid rising COVID cases in Ohio and nationwide.
COVID cases in Ohio have significantly increased since late June, with new cases rising from 5,962 at the start of August to 7,347 by mid-August.
Despite rising numbers, Ohio's current case levels remain far below the highs seen earlier in the pandemic, such as 514,668 cases in January 2022.
Experts indicate that while summer COVID-19 waves typically occur, the virus will persist, with updated vaccines expected for availability in early fall.
