An outbreak of E. coli linked to bagged organic carrots from Grimmway Farms has infected 39 people, resulting in 15 hospitalizations and one death across 18 states.
The CDC has urged consumers to discard any recalled bagged carrots and to be vigilant for symptoms, which often begin three to four days post-exposure.
Despite the alarming instances of E. coli outbreaks in recent months, experts maintain that the overall food supply remains safe, although progress in prevention remains slow.
Customers in states including New York, Minnesota, and Washington are primarily affected. The recalled carrots date back to a range of September to November.
