White Sox righty Drew Thorpe suffers another setback in return from elbow injury
Briefly

Drew Thorpe, a key acquisition for the White Sox from the Padres, has experienced new elbow soreness after a previous season-ending surgery. Manager Will Venable announced Thorpe's discomfort following his minor league game, indicating further evaluation will occur. The White Sox’s pitching prospects face multiple setbacks with numerous players this spring having undergone or sustaining injuries, notably Tommy John surgeries. Meanwhile, left fielder Andrew Benintendi is returning from injury and appears to be making progress, having successfully participated in a game without complications.
Sounds like discomfort of the elbow," manager Will Venable said, delivering the initial report. "We'll evaluate it and likely do some imaging and see where we're at.
Really unfortunate, he's been working really hard to get back,'' Venable said, "and obviously for the whole organization it's when there's a setback.
Thorpe, 24, was the top commodity acquired along with three others from the Padres a year ago for Sox ace Dylan Cease.
This spring alone, Sox pitching prospects Juan Carela, Ky Bush and Blake Larson and right-hander Prelander Berroa were lost to Tommy John surgery.
