Cubs Acquire Willi Castro
Briefly

The Cubs have acquired utilityman Willi Castro from the Twins, and in return, Minnesota will receive pitching prospects Ryan Gallagher and Sam Armstrong. Castro is expected to primarily play third base, addressing a position that has struggled this season. He has played all positions except catcher and first base, achieving a batting line of .250/.335/.398 since joining the Twins. He possesses solid hitting skills and speed, illustrated by a 34-steal season in 2023. The Cubs will owe him about $2MM through the 2025 season before he becomes a free agent.

Castro can play all over the diamond, but he'll surely get most of his playing time in Chicago at third base due to weak production there.
