The Cubs lost 6-0 to the Rangers after squandering early scoring chances and getting a rare bad starting pitching performance. Chicago loaded the bases repeatedly in the first three innings but produced no runs. Edward Cabrera allowed a solo homer to Josh Jung and an RBI single to Alejandro Osuna in the second inning, putting the Cubs behind 2-0. Texas expanded the lead with an RBI double by Joc Pederson and another run-scoring single by Osuna in the fourth. Justin Foscue hit a first career homer in the fifth to make it 5-0, and the Rangers added one more run. The Cubs stranded eight runners in the first four innings and were shut out.
