Bengals plan to make WR Chase top-paid non-QB
Briefly

The Cincinnati Bengals intend to make All-Pro wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history, according to player personnel director Duke Tobin. He emphasized the urgency of finalizing the deal to aid in team-building efforts. Coach Zac Taylor echoed this sentiment, highlighting the need to extend Chase and Tee Higgins' contracts while maintaining a strong offensive lineup. Chase recently achieved a receiving triple crown, further cementing his value, while the team also eyes extending defensive standout Trey Hendrickson.
"He is going to end up being the No. 1 paid non-quarterback in the league," director of player personnel Duke Tobin said at the NFL scouting combine. "We're there. Let's get it done."
"It's good to have great players that want to be rewarded," Coach Zac Taylor said. "That's a good problem to have."
Chase led the league in receptions (127), yards receiving (1,708) and touchdown catches (17) this season, becoming just the sixth wide receiver in the Super Bowl era to achieve the receiving triple crown.
"We've been a great fit for him. He's been a great fit for us. We would like to extend that. We would like to keep him not only happy but with us."
