"We're going to take you to see the most pedestrian burger to the most refined burger," says Matt Knutson, executive producer for the show. "Everybody knows Red Hot Ranch, Au Cheval, the Loyalist, and the Billy Goat. People know that these places exist. So why would we just keep pushing those narratives when there's hundreds of, maybe, maybe thousands of places that serve burgers in Chicago in the suburbs?"
The trailer for Poochie & Pang (Eat Chicago) promises laughs and burger recommendations that define the city and suburbs, with a pitch of highlighting why Chicago is "the best place to dine in the U.S.A." Within hours, the video racked up thousands of views.
Knutson and his team of four - Pang, Rollins, and producers Matt Buckman and Hannah Lindvall - promise to provide viewers with something they haven't seen before, seconds after the title credits. Their first stop is Burger Bites, a quick service counter tucked inside a gas station on Devon Street owned by Mexican immigrant Edgar Bonilla.
Filming then jumps to Gretel in Logan Square where owner Sol Ashbach reminisces about his father Phil, who owned Phil's Last Stand, renamed to Fatso's Last Stand after he died in 2014, who palled around with Larry Gold, who opened the Wieners Circle in 1983.
