Editorial: Lightfoot's budget is political, but cash-strapped Chicagoans can still breathe a sigh of relief
Briefly

The mayor sees her budget as a product of "doing the work" and also making a commitment to the city doing the right thing, especially when it comes to supporting migrants as well as women from other states seeking abortions. How much financial support the city should provide women from out of state seeking abortions here is a complicated question, but no humane person could quibble with supporting the hundreds of migrants who've been arriving here day after day.So if Lightfoot has decided the city can manage without that increase for the upcoming budget year, we're putting that one in the win column.
