Naeher mentioned that while she felt at peace with her retirement decision, it still marked the end of something significant. "Change is scary... I'm going to miss being a part of these camps in this team."
She emphasized the importance of her conversation with manager Emma Hayes, stating, "It was important for me to have understood where she was at... She was great. She was very supportive."
Reflecting on her career, Naeher stated her fulfillment with her accomplishments: "I feel very fulfilled with what we've been able to do and it takes a lot out of you."
Addressing the timing of her retirement, she acknowledged that the USWNT undergoes cycles and at the end of the next World Cup cycle, she will be nearly 39 years old.
