Juan Mata, now a player for Western Sydney Wanderers, has made history as the first active Major League Soccer player to become a club owner by joining the ownership group of San Diego FC.
Mata joins a diverse ownership group at San Diego FC, which includes Egyptian-British billionaire Mohamed Mansour and the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation, reflecting a commitment to investing in sports.
In addition to his new role in MLS, Mata has a history of investments, including an involvement with Formula 1 team Alpine Racing and previous stakes in Real Oviedo.
Mata’s investment ventures also include a tapas and wine bar in Manchester, highlighting his dedication to supporting local businesses and the community in addition to football.
