The Blues accepted a bid from Burnley last summer that would have seen Maatsen join the Clarets permanently for 31.5m this year, but the 21-year-old turned down the offer and has since managed under 400 minutes across all competitions this season.
Indeed, most of Maatsen's appearances under Pochettino this season have come in a forward role, with the versatile Dutchman lining up on both wings and even at the top of Chelsea's midfield.
