Manchester United is currently struggling in the Premier League, sitting in 13th place and in need of improvement. Amidst their dire situation, the club's academy shows promise, with recent success in youth competitions. Coach Ruben Amorim is cautious about introducing young players but acknowledges their potential as a source of hope. The under-21s have recently won their last eight games, and the under-18s have made a strong statement by reaching the FA Youth Cup quarter-finals. The club is looking toward youth to revitalize the senior team, particularly with budget restrictions in the transfer market.
Ruben Amorim has been understandably cautious to promote untested youngsters of late given the red-hot toxicity around Old Trafford in recent weeks.
The bulk of that side claimed three youth trophies in the under-18s last term, while the current under-18s thrashed Chelsea 5-1 on Wednesday.
We have to improve the academy and we have to bring more players through, said Amorim a fortnight ago.
Amorim is willing to include young players at the right time, naming the 17-year-old Godwill Kukonki on the bench for recent games.
