The Audi E-tron Just Got a Massive Brake Recall Expansion: What You Need to Know
"The brake pedal may detach from the brake booster, rendering the service brakes inoperable. If this happens, drivers can use the emergency brake to come to a stop."
"The issue can be traced back to an improperly torqued screw that connects the brake pedal's input rod to the actuator rod on the brake booster."
"Drivers might notice an unusual noise or that the brake pedal doesn't return to its original position. Using the emergency brake is the only way to stop the car."
"Despite Audi discontinuing the Q8 E-Tron, the number of recalls, customer complaints, and manufacturer communications is constantly increasing."
Audi is recalling 18,853 E-Tron electric SUVs in the U.S. due to a potential brake pedal detachment from the brake booster. This issue can lead to inoperable service brakes, although drivers can use the emergency brake to stop. The recall affects 14,102 units of the 2019-2024 E-Tron and 4,751 units of the 2020-2025 E-Tron Sportback. The problem stems from an improperly torqued screw from the part supplier, Aumovio. Audi will inspect and torque the screws to fix the issue at no cost to owners.
