Tesla aims to design four new in-house battery versions for the Cybertruck and other vehicles, transitioning from external suppliers to enhance production and efficiency.
The development of the 4680 battery has faced significant challenges, with Tesla losing 70% to 80% of cathodes during test production, compared to only 2% for conventional manufacturers.
Tesla's ambition includes the introduction of dry-coated cathodes in Cybertruck batteries by next year, targeting production of 2,000 to 3,000 units per week.
By 2026, Tesla plans four versions of the 4680 battery, including one, NC05, that will specifically power the upcoming robotaxi, aligning production with autonomous technology.
