Tesla recalls Cybertrucks after steel trim pieces come loose
Briefly

Tesla has initiated a recall for all Cybertrucks sold in the US during its first 15 months on the market due to a safety defect connected to the durability of exterior steel trim. The company noted that approximately 1% of the recalled vehicles may exhibit this defect, which could pose a road hazard if panels detach while driving. Although Tesla plans to replace the faulty panels, as of March 18, it had not corrected the issue in production. This marks the sixth recall of the Cybertruck since its November 2023 launch, raising doubts about the vehicle's touted durability.
Tesla has recalled all Cybertrucks produced in the first 15 months, due to a defect involving exterior steel trim that may lead to safety hazards.
Despite identifying a 1% defect rate among the 46,096 Cybertrucks recalled, the company has yet to resolve the issue in production as of mid-March.
The company previously faced multiple recalls for similar issues with the Cybertruck, raising concerns about its durability claims and CEO Elon Musk's assertions of strength.
As of March 18, Tesla had not fixed the defect and acknowledged the road hazard it could create for other motorists if the panels separate.
