Honda is recalling nearly 1.7 million vehicles due to a significant steering defect that could lead to sticky steering, created by an inadequately produced part.
The recall includes a variety of models from 2022 to 2025, including the Honda Civic and Acura Integra, due to a combination of environmental conditions and production errors.
The issue stems from too much pressure and insufficient lubrication between the worm wheel and worm gear, along with an incorrectly designed worm gear spring.
Despite an internal investigation starting as early as November 2022 and a federal inquiry in March 2023, Honda only decided to recall the vehicles in September.
