Recall: Nearly 14,000 VW And Audi EVs Might Lose Power While Driving
Briefly

Volkswagen Group of America announced a recall of nearly 14,000 electric vehicles, including the 2024 Volkswagen ID.4 and the Audi Q4 E-Tron models from 2024-2025. The recall is due to a defect in the onboard 12-volt battery charger that may lead to a loss of power while driving, posing a crash risk. The problem stems from condensation affecting the charger’s circuit board, and it could result in the car not starting or losing motive power. Volkswagen plans to replace the defective chargers for free at their dealerships.
Volkswagen Group of America is recalling nearly 14,000 electric vehicles because of a potentially defective 12-volt battery charger that may lead to power loss.
Condensation may form inside the onboard charger, causing electromigration on the circuit board due to insufficient protective coating, resulting in low-voltage battery charging failure.
