The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a recall for over 27,000 Porsche Taycans, flagging concerns of short circuits in battery cell block modules.
Porsche is urging owners of Taycans manufactured from October 21, 2019 to February 1, 2024 to visit dealerships for diagnostic checks on their battery systems.
Owners are advised to limit battery charging to 80 percent until a conscientious evaluation can be performed to ensure safety and mitigate fire risks.
The recall echoes issues faced by Chevrolet's Bolt EV, which similarly dealt with battery-related fire hazards, culminating in an expensive recall and settlement.
