Newham Council wants the Mayor of London, Sir Sadiq Khan, to develop a "food delivery charter" that companies would have to sign up to. This would compel them to provide riders with guidance and help to ensure their bikes are legally compliant and roadworthy. Uber Eats, Deliveroo and Just Eat say they require their riders to use roadworthy and legal vehicles, and they would welcome the chance to work more closely with London's fire and transport authorities. The mayor said he was considering extending current guidance.

Upgrades with tech are common. We're mostly accustomed to getting a new phone every few years, and we know that sooner or later, laptops, smartwatches, or other tech will start to show their age, and we'll need to upgrade to current technology. So what about e-bikes?

The US federal government's consumer watchdog has issued a recall for "about 24,000" batteries sold with cheap VIVI e-bikes due to overheating incidents and fire risks.

Smoke and flames erupted in the cabin of a JetBlue flight last month after a passenger's portable charger overheated and caught fire in their carry-on luggage.

"In cooperation with product safety regulators, Santa Cruz Bicycles is conducting a voluntary Safety Recall of certain Heckler 9 ebikes because in some cases their lithium-ion batteries can pose a fire hazard."
